Orku Coarse Perlite is a light, hard, aerated white mineral growing medium made from volcanic glass. Added to potting mixes, it opens up the soil for porous drainage, aerates plant roots and holds oxygen along with a little moisture and nutrients from soluble fertilisers.

The angular properties of coarse perlite make it particularly useful for creating free-draining potting mixes, especially for plants that love aeration and excellent drainage such as cacti, succulents and orchids. It is also ideal for making your own potting mix or raised bed mix in bulk by adding compost, soil and other components. In seed raising mixtures, perlite encourages quicker germination, and seedlings are easily removed with little damage to the roots, transplanting with minimum disturbance.
