Getting the Best Results
This wok uses a patented honeycomb structure to protect its non-stick layer, and the thick stainless steel body needs proper preheating before cooking. For new users, preheating and oil are important.
- Add some oil first, then preheat the wok for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Preheat for longer on less efficient cooktops, such as ceramic cooktops.
- Make sure the surface is reasonably hot enough for cooking before adding food.
- About 1 minute on medium heat is a good guide; if 10 is the maximum, use a heat level of about 7.
- A reasonably heated pan and heated oil (not overheating) are key.
- Turn down the temperature any time the wok is too hot.
- Avoid high heat, as it could damage the non-stick layer, just as with other non-stick cookware.
These steps apply not only to honeycomb woks and pans but also to most other cookware, including all non-stick woks and pans and Japanese carbon steel woks and pans. Proper heating and maintenance are needed for consistent performance.
